NBCC and RailTel Join Forces to Develop Data Centres in India and Abroad

State-owned NBCC (India) Limited and RailTel Corporation of India Limited have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop data centre projects across India and overseas over the next five years. The partnership will cover the entire lifecycle of data centre development—from concept to commissioning. 

Defined Roles and Expertise 

Under the MoU, NBCC, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, will offer Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for constructing data centre buildings and related civil infrastructure. Meanwhile, RailTel, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, will handle the planning, design, supply, installation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure for these facilities. 

MoU Signing and Vision 

The MoU was signed on April 8, 2025, by NBCC’s Executive Director (Business Development) and RailTel’s Company Secretary and General Manager (Law), in the presence of the CMDs and senior officials from both organizations. According to the official statement, the collaboration is aimed at combining the strengths of both PSUs to boost service delivery, infrastructure capabilities, and client acquisition in the growing data centre segment.
