India Will Have 1 Billion 5G Users by 2030, Says Neeraj Mittal

India, one of the world’s largest telecom markets, has experienced rapid 5G network expansion, driven primarily by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. These operators, along with their technology partners Ericsson, and Samsung, have played a crucial role in rolling out 5G services across the country. As 5G adoption continues to grow, Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal has projected when India will surpass one billion 5G subscriptions.

India to Reach One Billion 5G Subscriptions by 2030

Neeraj Mittal predicts that India will reach one billion 5G subscriptions by 2030, covering nearly 74% of mobile users. He stated, “Over 99.6% of Indian districts are covered, and 23% of mobile subscribers are already 5G-enabled. This is expected to grow to about 1 billion by 2030.”

Industry Reports Align with Government’s Projection

According to a report, India is expected to cross 770 million 5G subscriptions by the end of 2027, making Mittal’s estimate for 2030 closely aligned with industry projections. The next phase of 5G growth is expected to come from Vodafone Idea and BSNL, further expanding India’s telecom landscape.
