India has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fifth country in the world to develop its own 4G telecom stack, a feat made possible through collaboration between the public and private sectors. Building on this success, the country is now working on developing indigenous 5G technology, according to Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
In a conversation with news agency ANI, Scindia shared insights into the government’s plans, including the establishment of ‘Telecom Manufacturing Zones’, modeled after Special Economic Zones. Discussions with key “anchor tenants” are already underway to drive these initiatives forward. Efforts are focused on creating a robust ecosystem to support seamless production and further India’s telecom self-reliance.
