BSNL Land Monetization: BSNL Kerala Circle to Auction Surplus Land Parcels

BSNL Land Monetization BSNL Kerala Circle to Auction Surplus Land Parcels

The Kerala Circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has identified 24 ‘surplus land parcels,’ with two vacant parcels set to be sold in the first phase through e-tender and e-auction. These parcels are located at the Choondy Telephone Exchange in Aluva and Kottarakkara, as announced by V. Surendran, Principal General Manager of the BSNL Ernakulam Business Area, in Kochi on 21 June.

The Choondy land parcel spans 9,000 square meters and has a reserve price of ₹16.47 crore. The Kerala Circle aims to raise over ₹60 crore from the sale of these land parcels. Details are available on the e-Tendering Portal/MSTC Portal. The last date to submit bids is July 1.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) formulated a policy to monetize BSNL’s and MTNL’s land and building assets through outright sale or transfer to revive the telecom companies. This initiative addresses the need for financial stability and optimal asset utilization. Surplus land and buildings became available due to technological upgrades and the voluntary retirement scheme of 2020.

BSNL officials Latha K. and Anitha K., along with Kerala Circle Chief General Manager Sajikumar R. and Senior General Manager Sathesh R., were present at the announcement.
