According to a report by renowned mobile network analytics company OpenSignal, Jio’s standalone 5G network is central to Jio AirFiber’s ability to provide high-speed data to its customers.
OpenSignal reports that customers of Jio’s fixed wireless service, Jio AirFiber, consume an average of 400 GB of data per month. This usage is significantly higher than that of mobile customers. Nevertheless, Jio AirFiber’s speed and quality scores remain on par with its 5G mobile network.
In India’s fixed wireless service market, Reliance Jio is currently the sole provider using a standalone 5G network. OpenSignal notes that standalone 5G, combined with network slicing technology, enables Jio AirFiber to manage data consumption effectively. The report also highlights that recognizing the advantages of this technology, Airtel is preparing to launch its fixed wireless services on a standalone 5G network.
