Starlink Service Now Available in Fiji Islands

Elon Musk’s SpaceX has expanded its Starlink services to over 300 islands in Fiji as of May 20th. Starlink was granted a license to provide internet services in Fiji in mid-November 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, stated that licensing Starlink for commercial use is a game changer for Fiji. It enhances the country’s resilience in maintaining connectivity during natural disasters and supports the Fiji Government’s efforts to connect remote maritime communities without significant upfront capital costs.

Starlink noted that its services align with the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission’s goal of fostering a competitive, fair, and dynamic internet services market in Fiji. With its expansion in Fiji, SpaceX celebrated Starlink’s presence in its 99th market. Indonesia is the latest country to receive Starlink internet connections.

Elon Musk launched Starlink in Indonesia with a visit to Bali over the weekend, expressing his excitement about Starlink’s arrival, particularly in low-connectivity areas. Musk emphasized that this launch focuses on the benefits that Starlink’s connectivity brings to remote islands.
