BSNL, India’s state-owned telecom service provider, has announced a special offer for its users. The company declared that it will waive any additional fees for customers installing internet services at home. This offer will remain valid until the end of the financial year 2024-25. The decision stems from a decline in the number of broadband users across the country, a trend that has been ongoing. Another significant factor motivating this move is the rapid expansion of networks by private competitors like Reliance Jio and Airtel, who are already providing cost-effective broadband plans, attracting customers away from government telecom services. In response, BSNL aims to entice customers in India by introducing various attractive offers.
BSNL has announced that it will no longer levy installation fees for broadband services at customers’ residences. The waiver of installation charges will be applicable until March 31, 2025, extending the previous deadline by one year. Previously, the telecom company had waived broadband installation charges until March 31, 2024. BSNL typically charged an installation fee of Rs 500 for Bharat Fiber and AirFiber services, which will now be waived until March 2025. Additionally, no installation fee of Rs 250 will be imposed on users opting for copper connections. This means that BSNL customers will not incur any installation charges for any type of broadband connection.

While Airtel and Reliance Jio also offer free installation services for new broadband connections, they often come with certain conditions, such as subscribing to long validity plans. However, BSNL is currently focusing on customer convenience and does not impose such conditions on users. Moreover, BSNL’s broadband plans now include free OTT apps, high-speed internet, and calling features, enhancing the overall user experience. Recently, the company also decided to boost internet speeds in many of its plans to provide customers with a better browsing experience.
