5G/6G Congress 2024 | India’s 5G Growth is Fastest Than Anywhere Globally, Says Ludvig Landgren

The fifth-generation (5G) mobile subscriptions in India have surged past 165 million and are projected to reach 860 million by the close of 2029, according to a senior executive from Swedish telecom giant Ericsson. At the congress, which drew nearly 400 delegates, including 40 speakers, Landgren highlighted India’s position as a leader in average data usage per consumer, surpassing all other regions. He underscored the significance of 5G as a catalyst for innovation and economic growth, noting, “5G is a platform of innovation, and how we can use the platform to drive incremental revenue in the form of 5G and leapfrog India into the digital economy.”

Furthermore, Ericsson views network slicing as a particularly promising aspect of 5G technology. Landgren described it as an “exciting capability” that allows telecom operators to forge strategic partnerships and harness the ecosystem’s potential effectively.
