Amdocs Facilitating Telecom Operators in Monetizing 5G and IoT Use Cases Across Logistics, Healthcare, and Connected Devices

U.S.-based telecom software firm AMDOCS, is collaborating with telecom operators to identify and capitalize cases of the use of new 5G and Internet of Things (IoT), especially in logistics, healthcare, connected vehicles and connected devices. Summit Banerjee, Chairman of Division, Cloud Operations Services and Customer Service Unit head mentioned that while these use cases are still in progress, the telecom operators are searching for applications in IoT domain, such as connected devices and vehicles.

According to Banerjee, telecom operators are examining the possible uses of 5G in logistics, fleet tracking, manufacturing and factories. Low latency delaying capabilities of 5G expect the facility to expand health services for patients in rural and remote areas. AMDOCS has already collaborated to make a 5G clinic use case with Vodafone in Germany, allowing the operator to inform the patients rapidly and provide information about medical history efficiently from various doctors.

In October, Bharti Airtel joined the army with Airtel 5G and IoT monetization in India with AMDOCS. The purpose of cooperation is to set up a digital platform to automate and digital Airtel’s commercial functions. Additionally, it will enable an integrated plan and bill, the construction of Airtel Black, in which all services including mobility, broadband, direct-to-home and satellite communication will be covered.
