Vodafone Idea and BSNL May Begin Sharing Network Infrastructure in Near Future

Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea has been steadily adding subscribers, according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India data, and is seeking to raise around ₹45,000 crore from financial institutions and investors to strengthen its capital expenditure and better compete with rivals like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. 

Vodafone Idea Limited, India’s third-largest telecom service provider, is reportedly in talks with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited regarding the sharing of telecom infrastructure. This arrangement is expected to help both operators address network coverage gaps nationwide while also accelerating service deployment and lowering operational expenses. According to sources familiar with the matter, the discussions are advancing, and initial implementation of network sharing may begin in select regions, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

In addition to infrastructure collaboration, both companies are also considering spectrum sharing, which is expected to further enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. As per data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Vodafone Idea has been consistently gaining new subscribers over recent months.

Separately, Vodafone Idea has been engaging with banks, financial institutions, and investors to raise approximately ₹45,000 crore to strengthen its capital expenditure plans. If the fundraising efforts are successful, the company aims to improve its competitive position and narrow the gap with rivals such as Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
