India Deploys Over 4,100 New 5G BTS in October 2025

In October 2025, India’s telecom infrastructure expanded by 4,144 new 5G BTS, increasing the national total to 508,732 from 504,588 in September. Although this month’s deployment is slower than prior months, it still demonstrates significant investments into 5G network densification, essential for better coverage and capacity ahead of widespread 5G adoption.

Deployment Breakdown & Trends

  • The latest rollout covers all states and UTs, with Uttar Pradesh adding 846 sites, Maharashtra 528 sites, and Gujarat 284 sites in October.
  • The deployment pace has moderately slowed—from 6,453 sites in September to 4,144 in October—raising industry attention to potential capacity or logistical constraints.

The steadily increasing count of 5G BTS is crucial for India’s digital growth strategy. Higher site density translates to greater network reliability and improved user experience—especially for data-heavy applications like streaming, gaming, industrial IoT, and smart city implementations. As India moves toward a “Viksit Bharat” and increased broadband penetration, this infrastructure drive reinforces the telecom sector’s foundational role.
