Vodafone Idea (Vi) has made changes to its Rs 479 prepaid plan, reducing both its validity and benefits, effectively making it more expensive for users. This move aligns with the telecom industry’s efforts to increase tariff prices and improve their average revenue per user (ARPU), leading to better revenue and margins. Previously offering 56 days of validity and 1.5GB of daily data, the Rs 479 plan now provides only 48 days of validity with 1GB of daily data, alongside unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day.
To get a plan with 1.5GB daily data and 56 days of validity, users will need to spend more. However, this plan does not include 5G benefits, unlike similarly priced offerings from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, which provide 5G access with higher daily data limits. Vi recently made similar changes to its Rs 289 plan, reflecting its broader strategy to adjust tariffs.
