Telkom Enhances Internet Capacity to 51.8 Tbps and Broadens Submarine Cable Infrastructure

Telin and Singtel Announce Subsea Cable to Enhance Data Centre Connectivity

TelkomGroup has taken proactive measures to enhance its internet capacity to 51.8 terabytes per second (tbps) in anticipation of the expected surge in communication traffic during the upcoming Lebaran holiday. Additionally, the group has augmented its network capacity and coverage by increasing the capacity of its undersea cable infrastructure by 1.7 Tbps since January 2024. These efforts are aimed at accommodating the anticipated increase of up to 6% compared to regular days and last year’s Lebaran period.

Ririek Adriansyah, the CEO of Telkom, acknowledges the expected surge in telecommunication traffic leading up to Idulfitri in 2024, as observed in previous years. To address this, additional capacity has been meticulously prepared across all TelkomGroup network areas since the beginning of the year. Ririek emphasized the readiness of infrastructure and services to support communication activities during the Lebaran period, ensuring connectivity for critical sectors such as banking and points of interest (POI).

As part of this year’s program, Telkom has established 91 posts across Indonesia, with a dedicated workforce of 19,503 personnel operating round the clock. Their objective is to maintain telecommunication network reliability and provide uninterrupted customer services throughout the Lebaran holiday, demonstrating Telkom’s commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity for its customers during this critical period.
