5G/6G Congress 2024 | Jio’s Development of Own 6G Core Tech

During the seventh edition of the ETTelecom 5G | 6G Congress 2024, Aayush Bhatnagar, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Jio Platforms Limited, highlighted Reliance Jio’s active involvement in the research and development (R&D) of sixth-generation (6G) technology. Bhatnagar revealed that Reliance Jio is currently developing a 6G Core and actively contributing to the standards shaping 6G technology. He mentioned key technology enablers for 6G communications, including intelligent reflective services, joint communication and sensing, and quantum encryption. 

Speaking at the event, which attracted nearly 400 delegates in the national capital and featured 40 speakers, Bhatnagar emphasized the endless potential of 6G use cases, stating, “You are only limited by your imagination when it comes to use cases.” He highlighted the role of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP)’s Release 17 and Release 18 in advancing 5G Advanced and laying the groundwork for 6G technology. 

Bhatnagar underscored the importance of scaling technology alongside its development, citing Jio’s 5G network as an example of indigenously developed technology successfully commercialized in India. He emphasized that Jio’s achievements reflect India’s capability to emerge as a technology leader and align with the vision of “Make in India” advocated by the honorable Prime Minister. Bhatnagar emphasized the importance of delivering quality technology solutions to consumers, demonstrating the effectiveness of indigenous technology in the Indian context

Aayush Bhatnagar is a Senior Vice President at Reliance Jio. He focuses on spearheading the development of cutting-edge software platforms, with a particular emphasis on India’s indigenous cloud-native 5G core and 5G Radio technology. These technologies are designed, developed, and manufactured within India, reflecting Jio’s commitment to technological self-reliance. Additionally, Aayush is actively involved in researching and exploring advancements in 5G advanced technologies and early-stage initiatives in the 6G space, driving forward the company’s research and development efforts in the realm of 5G technology. 

 In his previous role, Aayush played a pivotal role in the successful commercialization of indigenous IMS VoLTE platforms, including the VoLTE TAS, Business TAS, IPSMGW, SMSC, CRBT, and other platforms. These platforms are integral components of the world’s largest VoLTE network, contributing to the seamless delivery of voice services over LTE networks. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in implementing 5G Use Cases using Jio’s indigenous 5G Technology across various verticals, showcasing the practical applications and versatility of Jio’s technological innovations in the 5G ecosystem.
