Indus Towers Expanding Rural Infrastructure to Bridge Digital Divide

Indus Towers, a leading telecom tower infrastructure company in India, is increasing its investments in the rural areas of the country. This effort aims to bridge the digital divide that the Indian government is keen to address promptly. According to a recent release, Indus reported that over 60% of its towers were installed in rural India during FY24.

Additionally, Indus announced that all rural sites installed in Rajasthan in FY24 are solar-powered. With a portfolio of approximately 220,000 telecom towers across all 22 telecom circles, Indus Towers is one of the largest tower infrastructure providers in the country.

The project was implemented by a team comprising Tanvir Singh (Circle CEO Rajasthan), Sandeep Gauba (Strategic Sourcing), Ajay Arora (Supply Chain Management), Sachin Patil, and Rameshwar Bhosle (Operations & Maintenance).

“We are proud to contribute towards our Honorable Prime Minister’s Digital India mission and continue to be India’s digital backbone. Our continuous endeavor has been to ensure enhanced project management, identify the right partner ecosystem, and follow stringent quality control for seamless deployment of telecom infrastructure,” said Dinesh Arora, Director of Projects at Indus Towers.

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), a major Indian telecom operator, is the largest customer of Indus Towers. Furthermore, Bharti Airtel, another leading Indian telecom service provider, holds the majority stake in the company. Indus Towers has been crucial in advancing Digital India by developing telecom infrastructure and providing it to telecom operators, enabling faster rollout of new technologies. Indus Towers’ increasing focus on rural India will help private telecom operators expand their reach more cost-effectively and efficiently.
