Opensignal’s latest analysis of fixed broadband services in India reveals that Airtel’s Xstream broadband service surpasses Reliance JioFiber in terms of broadband download speed nationally by 10.3Mbps. As remote working becomes increasingly common, consumers are keen on understanding the quality and speed of their home broadband connections and exploring alternatives like 5G.
Airtel’s Xstream broadband offers better download speeds compared to Reliance JioFiber, according to Opensignal’s data. Despite the speed difference, both providers maintain parity in service quality, with regional ISPs also holding strong positions in the market.
Airtel Xstream broadband achieves an average download speed of 44.1Mbps, outpacing JioFiber’s 33.8Mbps at the national level. In terms of peak download speed, Airtel records 213.6Mbps, while JioFiber trails with 155.3Mbps.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reports India’s wired broadband subscriber base at 37.35 million as of October 2023. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and BSNL command significant market shares in this segment.
Airtel Xstream broadband plans start from ₹499 with speeds starting at 40Mbps, while JioFiber offers an entry-level plan at ₹399 per month with 30Mbps speed. Both ISPs offer a range of speed options to cater to diverse user needs.
In terms of upload speeds, Airtel leads with an average of 33.3Mbps compared to Jio’s 26.8Mbps. Upload speeds are crucial for activities like cloud storage and file sharing.
JioFiber excels in broadband consistent quality, scoring 71.6% nationally, while Airtel follows closely with 68.4%. This metric evaluates the reliability and consistency of speeds for various online activities, ensuring a seamless user experience across different applications.
