BharatNet Project Status- 22000 Villages Connected, Says Minister of State for Communications

The government has launched several targeted initiatives to provide mobile services in uncovered villages across the North-Eastern Region and Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas.   

In the North-Eastern states, under the DBN-funded schemes, 2,829 mobile towers have been commissioned, covering approximately 3,500 previously uncovered villages and 286 locations along National Highways.   

Similarly, in LWE-affected areas, 3,449 mobile towers have been deployed, providing connectivity to 3,505 uncovered locations. 

This information was shared by the Minister of State for Communications, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, in a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
