Los Angeles Wildfire- Starlink to Provide Free Connectivity in Wildfire-Hit Regions

SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to support areas impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Elon Musk announced. The decision follows reports of TV crews using Starlink to broadcast live coverage of the California fires.

The wildfires, which have claimed at least five lives, are wreaking havoc across Los Angeles, including Hollywood, with firefighters struggling to contain the fast-moving blazes. Over 1,500 buildings have been destroyed, forcing more than 100,000 residents to evacuate their homes.

Hurricane-force winds have fueled fireballs that rapidly spread from house to house, devastating some of California’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone highlighted the immense challenges his teams face in responding to the scale and speed of the disaster.
