NICSI to Build New Data Centre in Guwahati

The National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI) is developing a new data center in North Guwahati, Assam, slated to begin operations by March 2025. This facility, funded by a grant from the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) and costing over Rs 600 crore, will be India’s sixth national data center. Initially planned with a capacity of 200 racks, it will expand to 400 racks with additional land allocated by the Assam government.  

The data center will primarily serve northern and central India and will be equipped with advanced features, including: 

– Uninterrupted power supply 

– Solar energy integration 

– Cooling systems 

– Enhanced physical and cybersecurity 

– Backup infrastructure 

– Comprehensive ICT hardware and software 

This facility will strengthen the digital infrastructure in northern and central regions of the country.
