AT&T's India Development Center to Expand by 2,500-3,000 Employees in the Next 2 Years

AT&T’s India Development Center (IDC) is expanding rapidly, planning to add 2,500-3,000 employees over the next two years. Currently, the IDC has around 2,000 employees spread across Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Though AT&T has been in India for 40 years, the IDC was established just last year to build a technology powerhouse supporting AT&T Technology Services (ATS), including security, information, data, and network offices, along with consumer and business tech services.

Santosh Bijur, VP of IDC, noted that the center has grown from 800 to 2,000 employees, focusing on transitioning from legacy systems to modern platforms like Salesforce and ServiceNow. The new roles will span from entry-level to senior positions and cover four main areas: consumer technology (CTX), business technology (BTPD), corporate systems, and data engineering/science.

The IDC also supports AT&T’s operations for 72 million post-paid subscribers and over 8 million fiber customers in the US, driving key operations from India. The center is actively hiring campus recruits, offering a three-month training program, and growing teams in data science and network technology.

AT&T’s presence in India dates back 40 years, initially offering international long-distance and data services to multinational corporations. Now, the IDC plays a critical role in supporting global networks and fostering innovation across AI, digital technology, and back-office applications.
