Red Hat and Globe Telecom Teams Up to Elevate IT Infra

Red Hat and Globe Team Up to Elevate IT Infra

Philippines telecom operator Globe has announced a partnership with Red Hat to modernize its IT infrastructure. By leveraging Red Hat Open Innovation Labs, Globe aims to boost its agility, scalability, and operational efficiency, ultimately enhancing its customer experience, according to a joint statement.

Integration of Red Hat OpenShift

During the Open Innovation Labs residency, Globe’s engineers integrated Red Hat OpenShift, a hybrid cloud platform, and adopted DevOps methodologies. This immersive approach helped Globe address challenges related to operational efficiency, developer productivity, observability, upskilling, and cross-team collaboration.

This initiative set the stage for scaling the platform and migrating the first full application to Red Hat OpenShift over the next six months. The collaboration brought several benefits to Globe, including:

Test Automation: Test execution time was reduced by 80%, enabling more frequent testing.

GitOps Efficiency: Resource provisioning was accelerated by 75% through automated processes.

Zero Downtime Upgrades: High availability was maintained, and lifecycle management was simplified.

Future AI Development: Globe is now better positioned to deploy AI-enabled applications with ease.

“The platform’s controlled loop fundamentals have made it much easier to operationalize applications, allowing us to focus on improving the customer experience rather than constantly fixing issues. This has significantly reduced our time-to-market, enabling us to deliver enhanced services more efficiently,” Globe stated.

“Integrating Red Hat OpenShift into our development processes has not only streamlined our workflows but also empowered our teams to embrace a more collaborative and innovative approach to software engineering. This partnership has paved the way for the next phase of Globe’s digital transformation, where we can explore new opportunities in AI and cloud-native development,” added Globe’s lead software engineer.

Red Hat OpenShift supports the development and deployment of cloud-native applications, enhancing the customer experience for Globe, as noted in the official release.
