Jyotiraditya Scindia Conducts 5G Call Using Indigenous Technology

Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, along with Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications & Rural Development, inaugurated the Network Operations Centre at the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) Delhi Campus. The Centre hosts indigenously developed security infrastructure for identifying and monitoring cyber threats in the country’s telecom network, including malware, ransomware, DoS, DDoS, DNS amplification, and malicious domain communications. 

The Minister of Communications made a pilot 5G call on BSNL’s live network using indigenously developed 5G Radio and 5G core (NSA). They also visited the CDOT Centre of Innovation and the ITU area office located on the CDOT campus, interacting with the entrepreneurs supported by CDOT. 

The Ministers reviewed C-DOT’s ongoing indigenous technology programmes, including 4G/5G, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), cyber security solutions, Disaster Management Cell broadcast solutions, optical and advanced security projects. Shri Scindia interacted with young engineers and researchers involved in designing and developing telecom technologies. C-DOT’s engineers demonstrated various innovative telecom technologies in several technology labs. 

Shri Scindia and Dr. Sekhar praised C-DOT’s efforts in creating multiple indigenous telecom products and solutions, including an end-to-end 4G/5G system fully developed using home-grown technology. They hailed this achievement as a concrete step towards achieving the Government’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and assured support and stimulus for research and innovation. CEO C-DOT, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, reaffirmed C-DOT’s commitment to developing state-of-the-art telecom technologies and solutions.
