Wayanad Kerala Landslide- Airtel Offers Free Data and Calling

In response to the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, Bharti Airtel announced on Wednesday that it would provide free 1 GB of data per day and unlimited calling for prepaid customers whose plans have expired. The company also extended bill payment deadlines by 30 days for all postpaid customers. Bharti Airtel has converted its 52 retail stores in Kerala into relief collection points to support local relief efforts.  

The landslides, triggered by heavy rains in the hilly areas of Wayanad, have resulted in at least 132 fatalities and over 200 injuries. “Airtel stands in solidarity with the people affected by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala,” the company stated, announcing these relief measures.

Rescue operations will continue on Thursday as the death toll from the landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai near Meppadi in Wayanad district, Kerala, surpasses 200. The Kerala Government has set up two control rooms to respond to distress calls from citizens. The contact numbers are 9656938689 and 8086010833.
