Reliance Jio Is the World’s Largest Mobile Operator wrt Data Traffic

Reliance Jio is the world’s largest mobile operator with total traffic on the Jio network has reached 40.9 Exabytes, which is a 35.2 percent year-on-year increase. Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the success of Reliance Jio, which has now emerged as the world’s largest mobile operator in terms of data traffic, surpassing China Mobile. 

Jio unveiled its quarterly results on Monday, revealing the milestone achieved. Jio network has soared to 40.9 Exabytes, marking a 35.2 percent year-on-year increase. Additionally, Jio boasts a robust and extensive subscriber base of 481.8 million. 

Ambani remarked, “Initiatives across RIL’s businesses have significantly contributed to fostering growth in various sectors of the Indian economy. It is gratifying to note that alongside bolstering the national economy, all segments have demonstrated strong financial and operational performance. This has enabled the Company to achieve multiple milestones. I am pleased to announce that this year, Reliance became the first Indian company to surpass the ₹100,000-crore threshold in pre-tax profits.” 

He further stated, “With over 108 million True 5G customers, Jio is leading the 5G transformation in India. From transitioning former 2G users to smartphones to spearheading the development of AI-driven solutions, Jio has showcased its ability to enhance the nation’s digital infrastructure.” 

Jio has ushered in a revolution in the telecommunications industry, replacing 2G with 5G and witnessing a significant surge in the smartphone and internet user base. The importance of digital connectivity has become increasingly apparent and relevant with these escalating figures. 

The annual data traffic has surged by 2.4 times since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the monthly per capita data usage has skyrocketed to 28.7 GB from a mere 13.3 GB three years ago. Jio has also become the first Indian company to surpass the ₹100,000-crore threshold in pre-tax profits.
