Telangana Govt Plans SPV to Build Robust Fibre Network Across State

Summary:
The Telangana government has announced the formation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to strengthen the state’s fibre-optic infrastructure and accelerate the rollout of the T-Fiber network. Under the Amended BharatNet Programme, the project aims to connect every Gram Panchayat through a resilient ring-based architecture, with the first phase covering 3,089 villages in Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, and Khammam districts. During discussions with Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy highlighted the need for central support, faster fund disbursement, and quicker implementation. The initiative is expected to create a unified digital backbone for Telangana, ensuring reliable, high-speed broadband connectivity for rural communities and advancing the vision of a fully connected Digital Telangana.

The Telangana government on Wednesday announced plans to create a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to strengthen and expand the state’s fibre-optic network infrastructure.

According to an official statement, the T-Fiber network will soon connect every Gram Panchayat across Telangana through a ring-based architecture designed to enhance network reliability and coverage.

As part of the initial phase, digital connectivity will be restored in 3,089 villages located in the erstwhile districts of Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, and Khammam, where existing telecom infrastructure has suffered damage.

These villages will be integrated with the rest of the state under the Amended BharatNet Programme using advanced fibre infrastructure built to support future connectivity demands.

During a video conference chaired by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy highlighted the challenges involved in expanding the fibre network and emphasised the need for immediate support from the central government.

The Chief Minister outlined Telangana’s objective of delivering reliable, high-speed internet access to every village and household, while also discussing the Centre’s commitments toward building a robust digital infrastructure for the state.

To facilitate effective implementation of the Amended BharatNet Programme, Reddy raised several key concerns with the Union Minister, the release said.

The discussions focused on speeding up the finalisation of the implementation agreement, ensuring the timely release of pending funds, and accelerating the rollout of the T-Fiber project under the revised BharatNet framework.

During the meeting, the state approved the formation of the SPV and endorsed an agreement with the Centre, a move expected to support the vision of creating a fully connected “Digital Telangana”.

Officials stated that Telangana is moving forward with plans to establish a unified digital backbone across the state. Under the proposed ring architecture, connectivity will continue through alternate routes even if one network path experiences disruption.

As a result, rural areas of Telangana are expected to benefit from uninterrupted, high-speed broadband services in the coming years, the statement added.
