Thales and Airbus to Tie Up for Space Communication Opportunities

Airbus and Thales are reportedly exploring a merger of their space activities, according to French business paper La Tribune, which cited unnamed sources. The discussions between the two companies are said to be preliminary and conducted discreetly.

Airbus Defense & Space, part of the European aviation conglomerate headquartered in Germany, is one of the largest global suppliers in the space industry, employing over 100,000 people. Thales’ Alenia Space unit, with a minority stake held by Italian arms maker Leonardo, specializes in advanced solutions for telecommunications, navigation, and surveillance, particularly in satellite technology.
